Our friends at The Phoenix– the excellent literary magazine at Townsend Harris High School in Flushing, Queens – just took home top honors at the Columbia Scholastic Press Association for their Spring 2016 issue!
To celebrate their accomplishment, we printed up a poster last week in the UDP studio.
For this project, we worked with 72 pt. Playbill all caps and our tray of oversized wood type:
Type was arranged and the layout tweaked on UDP’s flatbed press:
We mixed the ink and “brayered” the type by hand. Then we printed 40 copies:
Illustrations on the topic of the decline of cash, for the magazine Economia. The spread is kind of a play on the Ascent of Man, while the spots are about Sweden’s uptake of the payment app Swish, China overtaking the UK in cashless transactions, and South Koreans being encouraged to cash in their coinage for travel cards.
